Your thinking space. Your solutions.

Leading can feel isolating. You’re faced with complex challenges, difficult decisions, and problems that don’t come with an instruction booklet. What if you had access to a group of peer experts who genuinely have your back?

That’s exactly what Action Learning Sets offer.

What is an Action Learning Set?

Action Learning Sets bring together small groups of 5-7 leaders who meet regularly to tackle real workplace challenges through a powerful combination of reflection, questioning, and collaborative problem-solving.

You’ll bring your live leadership issues to a brave space where others help you think differently, see new possibilities, and commit to tangible next steps. The philosophy is simple but profound: Those unable to change themselves cannot change what goes on around them.

Who is it for?

Action Learning Sets are perfect for leaders, managers, and professionals who:

  • Are facing complex challenges that don’t have simple answers
  • Want to develop their strategic thinking and leadership skills
  • Need confidential space to work through difficult situations
  • Value learning from peers with diverse perspectives
  • Are ready to take action, not just talk about problems
  • Want to build their coaching and facilitation skills

Your set can bring together people from the same organisation facing similar challenges, or leaders from different organisations who benefit from cross-sector insights and fresh thinking.

What does it look like?

Six facilitated sessions with an accredited action learning facilitator, either online or in-person, tailored to your group’s needs.

Each session creates a structured yet flexible space where:

  • One or two participants present a real challenge they’re facing
  • The group asks insightful questions (without jumping straight to advice)
  • The presenter gains clarity, explores options, and commits to specific actions
  • Everyone develops deeper listening and coaching skills
  • You build genuine relationships with peers who understand the pressures you face

Between sessions, you’ll take action on what you’ve learned and return to share your progress, setbacks, and insights. This continuous learning loop is where the real transformation happens.

Why Action Learning Sets work

It’s like having access to the brains and hearts of a team of experts who are in your corner.

Action Learning Sets don’t just help you solve today’s problem. They develop:

  • Confidence in your professional identity and decision-making
  • Resilience through shared challenge and support
  • New perspectives from people outside your usual bubble
  • Coaching skills that enhance all your leadership interactions
  • Autonomy as you learn to navigate complexity more effectively
  • Lasting networks with peers who genuinely get it

The approach promotes accountability too. You’ll return to your set to share what worked, what didn’t, and what you’re learning. That’s powerful motivation to actually follow through.

We believe in creating brave spaces where you can be honest about the challenges you face. Our accredited facilitators bring warmth, insight, and structure to help your set flourish.

“I think without action learning, we wouldn’t have realised that there was so much overlap in the challenges we face in this work, and we were able to connect to support one another going forward.”

“I really welcomed the opportunity for guided self-reflection and the thought-provoking approach to nurturing a growth mindset. “

“It brought new insight to issues affecting me and my colleagues and I developed a better understanding of challenges others are contending with.”
